1. Grief is a natural reaction to loss of a loved one for children as well as adults.

2. The duration and intensity of grief are unique for each individual.

3. Caring and acceptance assist in the healing process.

4. That by expressing love and care, we will glorify our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

New Morning Grief Camp is a place where children and teens can come and enjoy outdoor activities and fellowship with others who are experiencing loss due to a separation of a loved one - either because of death, incarceration, divorce or deployment, etc. The camp offers a range of professionals--counselors who specialize in grief and loss support, social workers, a nurse, athletic advisors, and a host of compassionate, trained, volunteers. The cost is free.  Lunches will be provided.  The campers will offer a very special memorial service at the last day of camp for their families and friends. Please come and be a part of this special time as your child/youth experience the healthy ways to grieve and to honor the relationship with their loved one.

Our Four Principles Are:

Providing Love and Care by Supporting the Bereaved

Who We Are

New Morning Grief Camp supports and enhances the lives of grieving children and teens at a critical time in their development.  The loss of a family member is a time of crisis and if handled with love and support, can eventually become a process of growth.

The camp serves as a preventative program, working with children and teens to experience and verbalize the hard feelings and thoughts they are coping with and to provide a safe and healthy outlet for these feelings and thoughts.

When children are supported in what they are experiencing, it will be unnecessary to redirect them from unhealthy, self-destructive forms of expressing their grief.  Unsupported grief can lead to depression, anti-social behaviors, physical complications, and/or criminal behaviors leading to involvement with the legal and judicial system.  (Walker & Shaffer, 2003)
